How much are taxes decreased when you get married versus single?

anybody actually know? will i see a difference in my monthly income when i change my taxes to married? thanks! How much are taxes decreased when you get married versus single?
it isn't a matter for the difference, if you are married you have to file that way

filing jointly will cause your combined income to reach a higher tax bracket possibly

is this a test to see if you want to get married? How much are taxes decreased when you get married versus single?
Assuming that both of you are making roughly the same amount of money and don't have any children, your tax bill won't be affected by getting married.

If your incomes are fairly lopsided you may save a few dollars in tax when you get married if you file a joint return.

If you each have one or more children and are both filing as Head of Household and are claiming the EIC at nearly the maximum amount, getting married could easily cost you thousands in added taxes and lost refundable credits. In the worst case scenario the hit can be well over $10,000.

How soon to is Too soon to be married after being divorced ? Or does it depend on the situation ?How soon to is Too soon to be married after being divorced ?
To each their own, im sure its different for other people, and yeah it depends on the situation. How soon to is Too soon to be married after being divorced ?
My mother has been married 3x.

She married my dad, and he left her high and dry when I was born.

Then 5 yrs later she married my 1st stepdad 20 yrs later he died.

Then 5 yrs later remarried my current dad, ( he is more of a father to me than the first 2 combined.)They have been married for 10 yrs and they had a baby girl.

    Basically, whenever you feel ready.
I'd say if you filed for divorce today and flew to vegas tomorrow, it might be a tad early...

I don't think there is a clear-cut and dry answer, but if you're the type that seems a relationship to run from any type of self-esteem issues, then you need to deal with those first. I also think that as long as you're confident, and dealt with any psychological issues positively, then you're good to go...

    Just my opinion...
It's all up to the individual And if children are involved. A divorce then a marriage immediately maybe too much for children to handle. It takes time to adjust to the ending of a marriage. And then BAM we have a new Pappa. Take your time!
No such thing as too soon. Live, love and if it doesn't work, try and try again. You only live once. Let no ones judgment of you make your life decisions.

who is anyone to judge you?
    Ever.
If you don't feel ready to be married, it's too soon.
I'd say to give it a few years before you get remarried
dont guess there is a time set now days and time . good luck

We filled out the marriage license online, now we have to go to the court with our proofs of identification etc, but can we be married that day? By the judge or something? At the courthouse? How is being married different than dating?

I just want to know how being married is different than just dating? How long have you been married? How is being married different than dating?
The first guy's answer is weird - I'm married and when my wife and I go on a date, we both go home afterward.

It's different than dating because it provides the comforting security of a lifetime commitment. It is therefore a much more relaxed and worry-free relationship than dating.

I have been married for 22 years so far.How is being married different than dating?
Being married, you get to come home to the person you love every night. You have your best friend by your side through thick and thin. You are with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Also when dating you can just cut the ties and move on being married, you get a divorce and have to go though who gets what.

For me I love being married. I married my best friend literally we have been best friends since i was 14, I am 24 now. To know that one person wants to spend the rest of their lives with you is an awesome feeling.
Marriage comes with obligation but that obligation should come out of love. With just dating, there is no obligation of any kind.

Marriage allows you to file your taxes together and ';married filing joint'; is the hightest tax bracket, which usually means a bigger return. Dating is irrevelant when filing your taxes.

Marriage, where the mother's last name is same as her husband's, allows your children to automatically take on the father's surname. Dating means you have to file for a name change and can result in a fight if the situation isn't discussed in detail.

Marriage allows you to make decisions regarding your spouses health, such as being taken off life support or approving a particular surgery. Dating doesn't allow you to make any decisions regardless of age and/or how long you've been together, if your state doesn't recognize common law marriages. To tack on to that, obtaining a death certificate or getting money from social security or life insurance is relatively easy when you're married. When you're just dating, it's almost impossible.

There are many other differences but those come to mind off hand.
I have been married 41 years and to this date we do not fuss or fight. If we have a disagreement we talk it out. The difference between dating and getting married is. When you marry you make a commitment and earn security with your mate. When dating there is nothing to hold you together and its like saying I can quit anytime I want. I will not quote scripture but man and woman a instructed to separate from Mother and Father and join together as one. The longer you into a relationship the more you trust and the longer your together the stronger the love builds. Security is the answer I would have to give for being married.
Many, many years. The difference, well for one it is a commitment that is legal on paper, and also it is honoring to God and his plan for the family. The reason why we have so much divorce accepted, teenagers having kids, men screwing everyone they can find, and the entire reason the Jerry Springer show exists is because of the lack of honor and respect for the family unit. Hope this helps. If you have doubt about the person you want to marry, then don't take the plunge. It should be forever, not for a year or a few months like these foolish and bad example celebrities!
Been married 10 years, been together for 12. Marriage is different b/c you have to learn to work through issues, even when you feel like running away. You also have think of your spouse's feelings first before your own and vice versa, to keep a happy union. There is no room for being selfish, and one stupid act of deception or lies, will haunt you for a long time. Where as when you are dating, you can just break up if you are unhappy....marriage you can divorce.....but there are so many more factors to consider, children, fiances etc.
10 years, and the diff is being together every day, no matter what, thats the diff, not too much into it, just that. You have to be very mature to be married, Oh and you get to have sex all the time, unless you get an old ladie who wants it once a day or once a week, lol
I have been dating my wife of 15 years for about 17 years. I still treat her the same way I did then. I open doors, be polite, call her everyday and say I love you, pull her hair out of the toilet when she is puking... LOL

We still do the dating thing and we have been very happy. Being married is fun, but you gotta work at it.
Dating isn't serious or committed. Dating is just fun and games. At the end of a date, you go home. You can date more than one person.

Marriage is a permanent date. It involves day to day crap and learning to put up with it or change it. It means committing to one person.
When you're married there is feeling that you're in it together, like it's the two of you against the world. And when you argue you don't have anywhere to go so you have to really face every issue that comes up head on. It's taught me a lot about myself.

    Married 1 year
You get a pretty ring when you're married ; ) LOL But seriously, When you're dating, everything is exciting and it seems like things speed up, but when you're married everything seems to slow down.
There isn't enough room on your screen for me to tell you the differences. Just know, everything is different!!!

Some good different, some bad different.

married 12 years and still counting........
    Dating - 70% Committed

Married - 100% Committed (Becos the law says so)
u together 24 /7 now its gonna b different give it time ....not married but been together 30 years
    dating is all about you

marriage is all about your spouse, which you enjoy!
Commitment. There's no revolving exit door.
How is owning different than renting?
When dating you get to go home after the date.

    Married 25 years

    Divorced 5 years

    I like dating
    Haha...ha...ha...sigh...
well decision making is a two person job you, your together all the time you share your space

How can a married American/Canadian couple live together by immigration with limited stress and hassle?

My girlfriend and I want to get married. thing is I live in Canada and she lives in United States. We both want to live together but we are having trouble figuring out how the immigration process works. We basically want to know if we can get married and then live in the US together... and then proceed to do the immigration paperwork without being deported, or if we will have to live apart until after the process has completed. We would greatly appreciate any information that can be given. Thank you very much in advanced and God bless you.How can a married American/Canadian couple live together by immigration with limited stress and hassle?
Please be very careful. The first poster gave you information that will screw up your chances of being together.

You may not legally move to the USA until after your fiancee files for a visa for you. Technically, you arent even allowed to legally visit, since you have an American fiancee. If you make the mistake of telling the US border guards you are entering the country to visit your fiancee, or you are entering in order to get married, they will deny you entry.

Your fiancee will have to file for a k-1 visa for you to move to the USA and it will take several months. During tht time you will not be allowed to visit her. She will also have to be able to prove she makes enough money to sponsor you. I think the current rate is one and one half times the poverty level, but you will have to check on that.

If you want to go the illegal route, and you can afford not to work, you could enter the usa without telling the border guard you are going to visit your fiancee, then after about a month, get married and have her file to adjust your status. During tht time you will not be allowed to work, nor will you be allowed to leave the usa for any reason. If you leave , even for a family emergency, you will be denied entry if you try to come back. YOur marriage will receive heavy scrutiny, and the process could take up to two years. SHould you go this route, be advised that it is not the legal way, and if the INS finds out you are doing this, you will be deported. They have gotten awfully fussy, with all the fervor about illegal immigrants in the usa these days.

So, if you want to live in the usa, the best thing is to suck it up and get the right visa, the k-1 fiancee visa or the k-3 spouse visa. The other route will work, but it carries the risk of deportation, and forces your fiancee to support you for a long time, because you wont be able to work during the process. It also requires that she makes a good enough income to be able to sponsor you.

The easier thing might be for her to come to Canada, get married here, file to sponsor her here ( you dont need to meet finance requirements to sponsor a spouse in Canada, and she would be allowed to stay in the country while its being processed ) and then after a year or so, She can file from within Canada to take you back to the USA with her.The INS process for a USA citizen applying out of country to return with foreign spouse is much faster, and you two would be together in the meantime.

I married an American, we looked at me moving there before we got married, but found it much easier for him to move here. So he moved up here with very little problem. His permanent residence status is still being processed but he is allowed to work and has health care, etc, so its not that big a deal. How can a married American/Canadian couple live together by immigration with limited stress and hassle?
hey kateh i recently also got married but i am here on a student visa. at the end of your last comment you said that your husband moved here and although his perminant residence status is still being processed he is allowed to work and he has healthcare. how did he do this?

Coming to America from Canada is pretty easy. If you have a valid passport it should take minimal paperwork as long as you don't get in too much trouble here. Most people have no problem moving between the two countries as long as they aren't felons. You should be able to move into your home with your new wife as soon as you get marrid. Check with the American Embassy closest to you or call an immigration lawyer to get the fine details.
My fianc茅 and I were in a similar situation. We actually decided to go the route of the fianc茅 visa (also called an I-129F). You file it and get engaged and you will have to be apart for that time until it is processed. I don't think you will be able to get married without being deported. I wish you the best of luck. How are married porn stars able to have sex with other people & not cheat on their spouses?

I know there are some porn stars who are married. But how are they able to have sex with multiple people %26amp; not cheat on their spouse? Also, does cheating occur more frequently in the porn industry than another other industry? How are married porn stars able to have sex with other people %26amp; not cheat on their spouses?
they are so desensitized it means NOTHING to them and they don't even put off much real emotion........notice every scene the women are FAKING IT!!

pornstars are like prosecutors and executioners in the way that they separate their emotions and consider it a job..........ron jeremy had a difficult time maintaining a relationship but showed his deep connections to the person and notice that he really plays a ';porn role'; and a ';porn personality'; in the movies........this is by NO means the way he would be to his girl.

pornstars fake sex and put it all on in the movies, but they often get their spouses tattoed onto themselves and some even retire from the industry after getting married, but the ones who do not feel NOTHING and when one has sex over 1000 times it means NOTHING and is just a mechanical thingHow are married porn stars able to have sex with other people %26amp; not cheat on their spouses?
Some porn stars do it only as a job or career and their personal life is a whole different matter. I doubt most female porn stars enjoy the sex at their work (getting gang banged, double penetrated, anal sex, sperm shot all over their face, doing with other girls when they are probably not lesbians/bisexual for real). I mean they have to separate the personal aspects of sex to do that job. But others may be swingers and actually enjoy it and even have sex with others off camera and perhaps still have a bf or be married. That's a swinger, someone who enjoys that lifestyle. But most women who get into porn are doing for the money, not for the fun of it. Now men love being a porn star, they are the ones who like it because they are getting their rocks off and fulfilling their own and every other man's fantasies! But these are usually men's fantasies, and not womens. 95% of those who watch porn are men! You will find most women object do fullfilling many or most of the acts you see in porn!
They are working. That's different when it is your job. Obviously you haven't seen a set. It isn't like they are in some seedy motel room. They are on stage in front of a dozen other people. You have sound men, Directors, stage hands, camera men. It's they same reason no one accuses a hooker of cheating. It's a job.
It is cheating and there is no two ways about it. A marriage is between a man an woman. Not man woman and whoever. CHEATING NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY. They just excuse that sick life style and accept it.
';Cheating'; is about lying, so no, they are just as capable as anyone else telling the truth.

Many couples are not strictly monogamous and have various agreements.
If you have an agreement up front in your marriage, then certain behavior may not constitute infidelity. However, dude, I'm thinking you need a hobby.
You might want to try asking this question in the Porn Star Forum.

    xoxoxoxo
Sex without emotion may not be considered cheating. I have heard that some prostitutes have boyfriends/husbands.
They are cheating. It's just that both parties were aware of the porn stars lifestyle usually before marriage, and are ok with it.
    Porn stars marry porn stars.

If they don't, then their husbands must have a fetish that makes watching their wives get F'd by different men enjoyable.
They are able to separate work from their personal life. I figure that as far as cheating goes they probably cheat just the same as people that have other professions.
of course it's adultery, it's totally cheating if they are married.
I thought people in the porn industry dated and married other porn stars. If they don't, they should.
Easy, its the understanding that they have.
Its just a job to them .

  • How much worse off are filing taxes separately when married?

My bf and I are probably going to get married this year, but all his bills, support, etc are done through his business. I prefer to do my own taxes and would rather not have my stuff done through the business.

So what kind of penalties would I face should I choose to file separately next year ?

Would I have to do anything ';special'; this year to prepare for a change in filing status?

**Just like to be prepared :) **How much worse off are filing taxes separately when married?
it depends on your situation and income. If you file separately you lose the earned income deduction and a few others as well. If you are in a community property state and you file separately you must add together both your incomes and divide by 2 to get your income for taxes. How much worse off are filing taxes separately when married?
My wife and I have been filing seperatly for several years now. It cost us more in taxes up until 2005 or 6. Since then they come out about the same as filing jointly. We don't have a great deal of income, less than 30,000 each. I don't know if higher income will make a difference.

How soon after i get married should i send in my application for my LPR?

Im planning on getting married soon and i would like to know how soon should i file my papers? My fiance' got divorced in august 2008 and we want to get married and apply for my LPR.How soon after i get married should i send in my application for my LPR?
It all depends on your status. Are you currently in the US or in your own country? Are you legal in the US or out of status? If you are overseas and planning on getting married in the US, has your fiance filed a K1 visa? Or are you planning to get married in your home country then move to the US? There is no simple answer without knowing your statusHow soon after i get married should i send in my application for my LPR?
Why not file for a fiancee visa?

As soon as you are married you can file for the visa. I wouldn't wait very long as LPR can take a while and you don't want to be in some other country while your hubby is here all alone.

I got married in sep. of last year we have 3 kids how should we file to still recieve EIC credit?

we got married September 28'th, 2007. i was married before and we claimed married but filing seperate, can we still do that and both of us get the EIC credit since we where only married for a little over 2 months out of the year?I got married in sep. of last year we have 3 kids how should we file to still recieve EIC credit?
No. Your filing status is determined by your marital status on 12.31. Even if you get married on New Years Eve you are considered married for the entire year. There is no ';split'; for being married less than a full year.

Your only choices are Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately. If you file MFS you are barred from claiming the EIC. If you file MFJ and your combined income is more than the EIC ceiling you lose out on it now.

Welcome to the REAL marriage penalty. It's been cleared up for wealthy taxpayers. But two people raising kids as singles and collecting the EIC at the max level will lose out on nearly $10,000 if they get married. Thank your elected representatives for that shaft job!I got married in sep. of last year we have 3 kids how should we file to still recieve EIC credit?

Revision.....I just looked it up. Here you go. The number will be different, because it was for last year, but I believe the rules are still the same.

    ';Workers who raised children in 2006 must file either Form 1040 or 1040A and must fill out and attach Schedule EIC. Workers with children cannot get the EITC/EIC if they file form 1040EZ or fail to attach Schedule EIC. Married workers must file a joint return to get the EITC/EIC. Workers who were not raising children in 2006 can file any tax form - including the 1040EZ. These workers write ';EIC'; (or the dollar amount of their credit) on the Earned Income Credit line on the tax form. They do not need to file Schedule EIC. Schedule EIC forms can be obtained by mail or downloaded from the website of the IRS: www.irs.gov Forms can also be obtained at libraries, post offices and local IRS offices.';
You can file as married filing separately, but if you do, neither of you can get EIC. If you file a joint return, and your joint income is still within EIC range, then you can get EIC on your joint return.

Being married for 2 months of the year is still married. What counts is your status as of 12/31/07.
In order to get EIC you must file as ';Married Filing Jointly';.

MFS disqualifies you for this credit.
To claim the EIC you must file Single, Head of Household, or Married Filing Joint . You can not file Married Filing Separately. From there you would have to see if you meet the income requirements. The EIC would then be determined by your combined incomes.

What is needed to get Married on an Indian Reservation in NYC?

So we would be outsiders attempting to get married. How would I go about doing this? I just want to make her happy. What is needed to get Married on an Indian Reservation in NYC?
You probably need permission from the head of the reservation.

AND you need someone who is registered to perform a marriage in that county/ borrough of New York (not necessarily a clergyman, just somebody who is ''registered'' at the courthouse.

Q: What is needed to get Married on an Indian Reservation in NYC?

A: Well first, you will need to meet the requirements of NYS before you can even think about getting married.

    Second, go through the process.

    Third, Determine if NYC means Manhattan or all the 5 boroughs then find an ';Indian Reservation in NYC';

If you cant find any Online, go to a historical museum and talk with historians who can pass along valuable info to you and also consider getting married outside of New York State.
There are no indian reservations in NYC. You probably mean in New York State.

There is a reservation on Long Island. There might be others upstate, but the one on Long Island is the only one I've heard of. It is a reservation of the Shinnacock people, and it is near Southhampton, NY.
You would need for New York City to HAVE an actual Indian reservation.

Why are married Christians hesitant to admit but not secular people?

Secular people have admitted that even though they are married they find other people attractive that they aren't married to but they still stay commited to their spouse.

Married Christians would not even admit that they have once felt attracted to someone else! Our sex drive can't tell between married and single.

How come Christians won't admit it but secular people are open and honest about it?Why are married Christians hesitant to admit but not secular people?
Peer pressure. They put up an image, and at times don`t even admit to themselves that something is wrong in their marriage.

All men look and have desires.

Marriage and monogamous relationships is unnatural for humans, especially males.

It is entered into via rituals for the safety and assurance of women and young children. To further our species.

The natural response for males because of testosterone is to impregnate as many women as possible in their youth.

Marriage and its rules are a large stumbling stone for young men due to their natural directive. This leads to problems.

In the past women were more passive and looked the other way for the sake of the family. They had few options.

Today`s women are less forgiving. Why are married Christians hesitant to admit but not secular people?
Where do you get your information?

Married people, and I've been one for 45 years, still enjoy beauty when they see it. It has nothing to do with commitment to comment on that beauty.

Finding people attractive and lusting after them are two different things.

How do you know so much about married Christians? Both my husband and I dated before we were married, and we both know that.

Sorry, but some people have sex drives with a conscience. We are as open and as honest as the ';secular'; group you speak about, but we also have control over ourselves, our lives and our emotions.

When you are a married, Christian person, come back again with your opinions about how things really are.
How come you generalize? Remember President Carter? He admitted it. Lots of Christians admit this. They do not act on the attraction the way some seculare people do.

  • How far away does a married gay couple have to live to secure the sanctity of *your* marriage?

Gay couples can't get married in France, for example. But in Spain and Belgium they can. Is the sanctity of French marriages ruined by the married gay couples in the two bordering countries, or is it only the sanctity of Belgian %26amp; Spanish marriages that's at stake?

Is the sanctity of Californian marriages secured after Prop8, or are Iowa and Vermont too close by?How far away does a married gay couple have to live to secure the sanctity of *your* marriage?
Unfortunately, if ANYONE else's marriage affects the sanctity of your marriage, then the problem isn't in the other person's marriage but in your own.

For anyone who claims that gay marriage is detrimental to hetero marriage, I've got a news flash. STRAIGHT DIVORCE HAS DONE MORE TO DAMAGE THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE THAN A COUPLE OF QUEERS SHARING LOVE, LIFE, AND GOVERNMENT PROTECTIONS THAT WE HAVE. (And, yes, I can say queer because I say it with love. ^__^)

So, for those who do make ridiculous claims of what gay marriage will do to straight marriage. Save your crap. Because if gay marriage affects the sanctity of your marriage, I bet my marriage does, too. Because I'm an evil Pagan married to a good Christian boy...in a Christian ceremony! For shame! Haven't you heard? Gay marriage being legal will make everyone TURN GAY!!!! People will also want to marry animals, and rocks, and trees, and you name it! IF WE ALL BECOME GAY WHO WILL MAKE CHILDREN?!??!?!?!?! ALSO IF GAYS ADOPT CHILDREN THOSE CHILDREN WILL BE GAY!!!!!
Sanctity of anyone's marriage doesn't depend on someone elses' marriage. Maybe there is no more logical sesnse for the straight couples regarding marriage becuase they are all stressed out in their marriages %26amp; start blaming same sex marriage couples for their flaws?
Gay Marriage reminds me of little kids playing 'House'. Anything is possible, once you suspend reality.
It doesn't matter where they are. God does not recognize their union as marriage, but as sin.
As long as they aren't living in my apartment I don't care.

There are heterosexual marriages that are ruined by a selfish disobedient breed of sorts. Marriages as it were is at stake. Prop 8. Means nothing to the Church. There is still same sex practices in many countries. Marriage does not make it right to the spiritual. God has the last word. We have broken faith with God and each other. Is gay marriage safe sex? Are all heterosexual marriage safe sex? Is it a cover up for debauchery? How far away from God can we live to secure the sanctity of our marriages? Even if we bring offerings to the Lord Almighty.

We go to the house of God and flood his alters with tears. We go to the hospitals and weep and wail because God no longer pays attention to us. Then we say God does not exist because we want to have it our way. We say we have free will that makes us free to make choices. We are born that way? Sure. Lead by demonic persuasion of our forefathers. In us from birth to sin against God and others.God does not make us insane. We do! Lead by the spirit of damnation. Sexual sin.

God no longer accepts anything men do with pleasure from his hands.

Because the Lord is acting as a witness between men and women in their youth. Because they have broken faith with God.

He is mans partner the God of our marriage covenant. His not the Lord made them one from the beginning? Male and female. In flesh and spirit we are his. Why did he make us one? Because he wanted Godly offspring. Who can a woman call her wife. How can a man call his husband. That is insane and bigotry. God hates divorce. God hates the violent dismembering of one flesh of marriage. God says do not cheat. Because of cheating men and woman have burned in passion for each other. Romans 1.

Then we wonder why children are bitter and confused. Doing things unseemly at a young age. Giving into sexual promiscuity and lust for sex unprotected. Killing each other and parents. For the sins of our fathers, spirits inside all of us.Sure we all our born in sin and shaped in iniquity. We are born that way. Evil and surly. Sexually perverted. doing to others what had been done to our ancestors. Sin raises it's ugly head in our children. Gay and cheating tendencies. There is no sanctity not even in the Church. God's house has become a house of pain.

God sees. He knows us. But we refuse to know him. We do not care what he wants. So man devises his way and the Lord directs his steps for his good or for his demise. Only by the work of the spirit in us can we cast the demons out. But many want to hold on to them. they have been accustom so long they do not want to be free. So they bring the children into their scenario. Each time one is born the spirit multiplies in number and the child's state is worse than those before him.

They called him legion.Jesus asked him who are you? He said we are many. A legion is 3,000-6,000 in number. He is regional and territorial. Family traits. You remind me of ? Mark 5. It took one word from Christ. Come out! The demons obeyed him.

Two mommies or two daddy's. No daddy or no mommy. We are just human. Funny God called us man. It is he that gives us a female or male body. We want to mutilate it,and that for us is sin.

I'd say to give it a few years before you get remarried
dont guess there is a time set now days and time . good luck

  • How is being married different than dating?

How to go about getting married to an Englishman in UK?

We planning on getting married, what do i need, papers etc? what is the procedure, Can i get married in UK without a British passport and when im married i can get one. I will stay there permanently of course and work there. How to go about getting married to an Englishman in UK?
once you marry him you'll have a two year temporary visa and then after the 2 years is up and you're still married you will probably have to do a british test (which is easy to pass) and then you can apply for a permanent one to stay here whether you're still with your husband or not :)

Course it may be different for you, but this was the case for my friend who married a man in india and brought him over to the UK to live.

How did my my ex file as married filling jointly electronically without my permission?

At the end of 2007 I was married but separated. He filled taxes as ';jointly'; electronically and got a stimlus check that corresponded to two people plus my daughters.

Arent their any security guidelines for this mistake not to happen? Is it that easy? What can I do about this?

He seems to not know that it was wrong because according to him they didnt ask for my signature. How did my my ex file as married filling jointly electronically without my permission?
Just call the IRS and let them know that he filed fraudulently. You have no way of knowing what he reported on that return and since it is at this moment considered your return--you are legally responsible as much as he is for the information on it.

The IRS's number is 1 800 829 1040. If you don't believe me, look it up. I'd feel better for you too.

As far as the stimulus goes, it was supposed to be an advance payment off of this years taxes and you should take up the question with the IRS since he filed without your permission.

For the poster above me, did you personally file your own taxes last year? If he filed married filing separately the IRS would require you to file the same way. If he filed married filing jointly, one of you would not have been able to e-file and you'd be hashing it out with the IRS trying to prove who was in the right.

However, if you can prove that you were unmarried and had sole custody of the kids--you should be able to get it all straightened out if it is a fraud case. How did my my ex file as married filling jointly electronically without my permission?
What signature. He efiled. The IRS can't tell whose fingerprints were on the keyboard.

If you had your own filing requirement, you would have filed on your own and the duplicate use of the SSN would have been obvious.

If you are filing now and not getting the stimulus because you filed last year when you say you didn't, write the service center and explain that your ex filed an ';invalid joint return.'; You can ';win'; if you can show you weren't living with him, didn't have any income to file and didn't benefit from the refund. You will lose if the tax return included any income for you, especially if you had income of more than $3400 and didn't file on your own.
My ex did the same thing. Except he was at an HR Block office and the guy told him to claim our kids (I have sole custody) and I don't know how they got away with putting me on it. Long story short....I am waiting for my $4000 2007 refund from the IRS. It looks like I am out the rebate ($1800 for me and our 4 kids) because the jerk got that too.

Do your kids live with you? For more than 6 months of the year? Do you have any income? I made under $30K that year and was qualified for the EIC, the child credit, etc. and that meant a big refund. If you are working, you need to look into what you might be entitled to - it could be quite a lot of money.

What is the difference in the US tax code between married and unmarried individuals and couples?

I realize the answer to this question may be more difficult and complicated that is permissible in this format. But I have often heard of ';marriage benefits'; in the tax code, exactly what might people be speaking of? Lets assume that the couple has no children. To get more specific, how will the tax code treat two people that each make 50,000 dollars a year differently if they are married (thus, joint income becomes 100,000 dollars a year). Is it better to get married, under US federal tax laws?

Thanks! What is the difference in the US tax code between married and unmarried individuals and couples?
if you have no kids and 2 incomes, the IRS eats your money. If you have one income and no kids, the IRS eats your money at a slower rate...

people who have kids get more (or at least some) of their money back. What is the difference in the US tax code between married and unmarried individuals and couples?
At $50k per year each there would be little if any difference in total tax between two single persons and a married couple filing jointly.

A single person earning $100k per year who married a person with $0 income would see their tax bill drop dramatically, by nearly 50%.

Most of the tax benefits skew towards single parents making between about $15k and $30k each. If such as couple, each with one or two children, were to marry their total tax bill would rise significantly. The worst hit would be two single parents each with 3 children and about $20k in income each. They'd stand to lose as much as $10,000 per year in tax benefits if they married.
Get a copy of the tax rate tables. Look up the taxes owed for single vs married. All of your questions will be answered.

hi there i too am geting married in a small village in 3weeks

but its a chapel not a church so prices may vary!!

    minister = 拢120

    Church Hire= 拢30

    Steward Fee =拢15

licences = 拢60 (this cost is for two ppl one each!!!)

thats 拢265 just for the legalities!!!!! the rest of the expense is in the dress bridesmaid etc.....

my wedding has cost in total just under 拢1000 but im doing it on a TINY budget!!!! plus friends and family are helping make things like favours food and altering dress etc!!!

    GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!
it shouldn't 'cost' anything. usually churches just ask for a donation to the church. every church is different though, so you'd have to ask your priest/pastor how much a typical donation is. for my church, the priest told us $400, so that 's how much we gave.
Most small parish churches dont have a set fee, but will ask for a donation to the church. i think most people pay around about 拢200 towards this, but the minister of the church will be able to tell you
    Congratulations on you engagement!

I would ask the village priest he would know or he would know who to talk to so you can receive the right answer the first time.

    Good luck.
depends on the church, the religion, the popularity and the village...

    ring them...
We are getting married in village about 15 mins away from us. The church is costing 拢600.
Ask the priest in your small village.
Our local church charges 拢800 and for the bells its another 拢85. If you are a member of the church its free.

How much does it cost to live in UGA dorms for married couples?

There are actually two parts to this question, can you live in the married couples dorm/apartment if you are only engaged? Cause me and my boyfriend plan to get engaged when i enter college but not get married til we are out of college, Can we still live in those dorms?

The second part of my question is this; Is it more expensive to live in the UGA dorms/apartments for married couples, or just get an apartment on campus?

Please answer, and thanks ahead of time! How much does it cost to live in UGA dorms for married couples?
The rules do allow for domestic partners to occupy family housing. See the FAQ section under the first hyperlink in the source section below.

The rates range from $510-$572/month for a 1 BR/ 1Ba apartment. Each apartment includes an electric range, frost-free refrigerator, air conditioner, electric heating, high speed Internet access and cable television service. You will save money living on campus as you won't have the commute to the campus at least once a day, more if your schedules are different. ';Just get an apartment on campus'; is not an option. You would have to be off campus to do that. Housing on campus is all run by UGA.

Does anyone know what charity care is and how it works?

I was denied medicaid because i am married and my husband works. but his insurance does not cover maternity costs. anyway my temp agency covers $5000. but it won't be enough to cover delivery. what is charity care and how can i apply? i am only 19 and very clueless as what to do now! i don't want to get stuck with a large bill when my baby arrives. someone please help!Does anyone know what charity care is and how it works?
I don't know much, but I do know Charity Care is geared towards low-income families who are not eligible for medicaid (often times because of citizenship issues; you can't get medicaid if you're not a citizen but Charity Care can step in if you have low income). If you have insurance already, however, I'm not sure if you will be eligible.

But the best thing you can do is check with your clinic or hospital to find out about income levels and what type of assistance may be available to you. If I'm not mistaken, Charity Care is filled out at the hospital. Doesn't hurt to apply! Good luck!Does anyone know what charity care is and how it works?
Slw what a little b**** you are. Theres more of a higher percent of Americans that dont have health insurance then do. So in your sick little mind only people with health coverage should have a baby? Having a baby cost over $10,000 and thats not somthing anyone can just pull out of their a**

to be honest with you if you couldn't afford it then you shouldn't of gotten pregnant. Birth control wouldv'e been a cheaper option for you. sorry but sometimes the truth hurts.
    just do it!!!!
This is a tough one. One one hand, it is your child. Should your next door neighbor cover it? Should the lady down the street? This is really something that you got yourself into and as such, you need to be responsible for. Wouldn't it be nice if someone else could pay for my speeding ticket? Charity care is this: other people paying for something you did.

On the other hand, I've been in your boat and it's scary. It's important to have SOME PLAN for your medical costs; after all, what if there are complications? You could get stuck with a pretty hefty bill. The only thing I can think of is this: quickly get a job with a company that offers group coverage that also has full pregnancy and delivery and dependent care coverage. Even if you have to pay a hefty premium. You really do need coverage with this baby.

My daughter got herself into the same mess and was able to do just what I described above. Her insurance premiums were 1,500 dollars a month. No joke. But when she ended up having an emergency C-section and the baby had a health problem that required an extra-long hospital stay, she was so relieved to have full coverage. Otherwise, she'd owe money for the next 20 years and her credit would be totally screwed.

I wish you the very best of luck... :) Hope you and baby are healthy and happy.

How to sort out citizenship when im and indian marrying a chinese girl?

india offers dual citizenship, china offers single citizen ship, now if i marry a chinese girl can i get her a indian citizen ship and then also get her chinese citizen ship as her parents are chinese and india offers dual citizenship. or what could be the best way to solve this.

thnx in anticipationHow to sort out citizenship when im and indian marrying a chinese girl?
India does NOT offer or allow dual citizenship.

India does offer a watered down version of citizenship in which you can live in india but you CANNOT Vote or stand for parliament. It is called OIC

China does not allow dual citizenship.

So basically you both stay citizens of your own country (which you can do if you have permanent residency) or ONE of you gives up their citizenship.

How were Mary and Joseph married if they never consummated their marriage?

If Mary was a virgin, then how were her and Joseph married? You must consummate a marriage to make it official. How were Mary and Joseph married if they never consummated their marriage?
so got pregnant while a virgin.

it doesn't state in the text that they never consummated their relationship.

the road to Bethlehem is long. I'm sure they probably took a break or two.How were Mary and Joseph married if they never consummated their marriage?
You must consummate a marriage to make it official.

First of all, Jesus had brothers and sisters. And second, where is it written that a marriage has to be consummated? Even the Apostle Paul said if you want you want to keep your wife a virgin, keep her well.
They were not married when she conceived. They were engaged, it says she was betrothed to Joseph. They had not had a chance to get married. Joseph married here while she was pregnant. They had other children after Jesus was born.
    You're talking current marriage practices.
What are you talking about, they had several children...
Now dude, you know old Joe broke that off at some point.
That's a very good question. I'm not Catholic, so I don't know how they address this. I'll star it for my Catholic contacts. Hopefully, one of them will be able to give you a good answer.
Jesus had brothers and a sister.
The Bible says they did after the birth of Christ.
They did after Jesus was born.

    They did have other children

How does getting married affect my FASFA?

My boyfriend and I are planning to get married sometime in the future. I am going to have to do 5 years of school and should *crosses fingers* graduate in fall of 2012. My boyfriend should graduate *crosses fingers* Spring of 2011.

How would getting married sometime in between those dates affect my FASFA? Also, is there any benefits I get from being married? Thanks! How does getting married affect my FASFA?
You're still young, so be careful. This is a big, life-changing decision.

Now, since you are under 24, not married and don't have any children (I'm assuming all this), you have to claim your and your parents' tax information. When you get married, you'll claim yours and your then-husband's. If you and your then-husband make more then your parents and you combined, you'll obviously get less financial aid.

Let's say you get married on, I don't know, January 5th, 2010. You'll have to correct your FAFSA for 2010-2011 if you already entered it (though chances are you wouldn't have already). I don't think you'll have to do your 2009-2010, since you made that when you weren't married. But talk to your colleges.

Good luck with your education and marriage. How does getting married affect my FASFA?
There is no benefits really of being married. The only thing they'll do is look at you and your bfs income and assets instead of your parents. If you all make less and two people are in college you'll most likely get more aid or the same depending on what you already get. Do keep in mind that if yall get married this year it wouldn't go into effect for fafsa until this time next year as they do go based off of the previous years tax papers and not the current one.
If your under 25 and still have to claim your parents income on FAFSA and they make more than your boyfriend, by getting married, you would then have to claim your boyfriends income instead, and should get more money.

  • How can you tell a married man has feelings or attraction for you?

What are the signs? Are they always obvious signs? Is it best to quit being friends if the married man does have feelings for you? Thanks. How can you tell a married man has feelings or attraction for you?
he always looking at youHow can you tell a married man has feelings or attraction for you?
That's not a good situation, especially if the lines get crossed. I'm sure you know that. If he's mature enough and the topic comes up, just set the boundaries. Especially if you like him, because that will keep him out of trouble and he will respect you more for it. If he doesn't like the boundaries, then he doesn't respect you and it's time to say goodbye.

The signs are not always obvious, but soon enough they show, and you'll know.
Every person reacts differently when they are attracted to someone. If you feel this man is having feelings for you then you must address it. It would be best to tell him you are not interested and remind him that he ';is'; a married man. If he tries to act on those feelings them you should tell him that a friendship is no longer possible. Would you want a man who would cheat on his wife? Could you ever trust him?

    Best wishes.
Whwn he starts hitting on you when his wife isn't there. Don't go there. Married men should leave their wives if they no longer want to be with them. You will always be the other woman and statistics show that married men rarely leave their wives for the other woman.

All you will be is a free hooker - don't you want a guy who treats you like youre special? Rather than a bit on the side?
if he;s married and checking you out he;s doing it many other girls.

don;t forget he;s got a wife waiting at home for him and he will return to her after he gets done with you.
a married will have sex and move on that's a true sign of a married man don't forget about the wife if she finds out about u that's a good sign
The best way is to not get involved

Don't wonder why, what and how...

    Don't be the other woman

Yes, quit being friend with him.
Yes quit being his friend. You're only asking for trouble.
oh yes watch out for a married man cause all they want is to get into your pants once they do it is over, they move on and find someone else they want!
if he is married leave him alone. it's not worth the pain and heart ache
    Your a IDIOT!

Can someone explain How a married man uses his side girlfriend?

Best Friend dating married man well over a year now. I told her this is just plain WRONG and he is using her. She came back with, ';How is he using me if he supports me?'; I didn't know what to say at that point? She also thiks me and another close friend are jealous of all the things he buys for her.

What is a good way to explain he is using her, even though he spoils her with gifts and pays her cost of living? Can someone explain How a married man uses his side girlfriend?
Explain to her that she is like a car he is leasing.

She can be turned in for another model on a whim.

xoxoxoxoCan someone explain How a married man uses his side girlfriend?
It depends on what she wants from him. If she doesn't care for him, then they're using each other, she uses him for money and he uses her for sex. If she doesn't mind acting and being treated like a hooker, then that's fine.

But if she wants more than money then he's using her by buying her patience and stalling her with gifts. To quote from Duffy's song ';Mercy';: ';You think that I will be something on the side but you got to understand that I need man who can take my hand';. That's what most women want and hope for. If he won't do that for her, then she's selling herself short.
With all due respect your friend has no self respect. She is borrowing another woman's husband who in turn uses her for fun. There is nothing serious there. He pleases her with gifts in exchange for sexual favors. She will probably one day have Karma to come back and bite her in the behind. But until then you do nothing. You have expressed how you feel and now it is time to leave it at that. '

She has not considered what this man will do once he is tired of her. He will just toss her to the side and she will look stupid. She feels because she is young and sexy she is better than his wife, but the reality is that he still goes home after screwing her.

She has no morals. You should just tell her that she is grown and knows right from wrong. Do nothing. I would find a better friend too.
If neither of them see the problem, there isn't one. They spend quality time together, both know the situation and have made their peace with it. Both get what they want, it's a win-win situation.

It can only go sour if the wife finds out and kills someone or the ';side girlfriend'; blackmails the guy. But then again, they're grownups and know the risks.

He'd be using her if he made her sell drugs or engage in prostitution but he just ain't making her do anything she doesn't want to do.
You can't tell stupid women anything they have to learn for themselves when he gets tired of her he will drop her and find an new side piece. Personally I couldn't be friends with a scandalous woman like this if she bang one married man she would bang your future husbands. Plain and simple if she can't see she is nothing more than a hooker than let it be.
    She's using him.

Tell him he only purchases lavish gifts for her like that out of guilt that he cannot provide her the same type of emotional relationship he provides his wife.

He buys her these things because he knows if he doesn't, she WILL question whether she's being used, but she's just a stupid woman if she really thinks otherwise. Like so many out there. *sigh*
Sad, is how you describe it. She's not dense, just another victim personality that feels the world owe's them something. I had a similar friend once....a friend no longer....that's how you deal with it. I asked my friend to stop this same behavior, and I knew his beautiful wife and knew how heart broken she would be if she knew about her husband, my friend refused to end it with this man..I had to end the friendship...everyone makes mistakes...but those who want to continue, I have zero tolerance for!
She's what we old geezers call a .... ';Sugar Baby'; and he's her ';Sugar Daddy';.

Yes he's using her for sex and she's using him for the things she wants and needs.

They have all the benefits of a classic marriage without the ';I Do's';.

And yes, he could trade her in for a new model anytime and she probably realizes that.

If it were for love and affection, I would say that's not a bad thing or a good thing but those things happen.

But for them using each other trading sex for things ... its really almost deplorable.
He is not using her. The fact that he buys her stuff and takes care of her shows that he cares. The only thing that is wrong with this scenario is that his wife doesn't know he is cheating on her. But the relationship between your best friend and the married guy is fine.
sounds like she is a smart girl, really I don't see how he is using her?

they probable have a friendship and have come to agreement that she gives him sex and he give her financial support, if that's what they both want what's wrong with it?
He isn't using her, he isn't going to leave his wife for her. But she doesn't seem to care, so why do you? Your not the wife, so why not just let her be to do what she wants? Karma is a B*TCH...
    2 words Steve McNair
That he is not you jealous person. She is using him.
    Discretely
Your friend is acting like a hooker. He's supporting her? Geez, she sounds like a selfish taker.
He's telling her what she wants and gives her what she wants to hear to have sex with her....like a hooker.
    That would be My YOTA!

How many ways can four married couples sit in a row on a park bench if the men and women must alternate?

Question: How many ways can four married couples sit in a row on a park bench if the men and women must alternate?

    Answer: 1152

How do I get to the answer?

Can anyone please help? Thank you.How many ways can four married couples sit in a row on a park bench if the men and women must alternate?
Eight people are seated in 8 positions, and there are 4 males and 4 females

How many people can sit on the first position? Any of the 8.

How people can sit on the second position? 4 (The person who sits in the second position must be of the opposite sex to the person who sat in the first position but can be any of the 4 members of that sex)

How many people can sit in the third position? 3 (The person who sits in the third position must be the same sex as the person who sat in the first position and as one member of this sex is already seated, there are three members of this sex left).

How many people can sit in the fourth position? 3 (The person who sits in the fourth position must be the same sex as the person who sat in the second position and as one member of this sex is already seated, there are three members of this sex left).

How many people can sit in the fifth position? 2 (The person who sits in the fifth position must be the same sex as the person who sat in the first position and as two members of this sex are already seated, there are two members of this sex left).

How many people can sit in the sixth position? 2 (The person who sits in the sixth position must be the same sex as the person who sat in the second position and as two members of this sex are already seated, there are two members of this sex left).

How many people can sit in the seventh position? 1 (The person who sits in the seventh position must be the same sex as the person who sat in the first position and as three members of this sex are already seated, there is one memberof this sex left).

And of course, the last person must sit in the 8th position.

    So the number of ways of achieving this is 8 . 4 . 3 . 3 . 2 . 2 . 1 . 1 = 1152.

In factorial form this is 8 * 4! * 3! = 1152.How many ways can four married couples sit in a row on a park bench if the men and women must alternate?
In some states the answer could be zero :-)

What tax benefits will I receive for getting married this past September?

I'm confused how this will work because I will only have been married for 1/3 of the year (married Sept. 2nd). Her mother claimed her on taxes before this. Also, my wife is a college student who worked part-time throughout the year. Whats the best way to file and what benefits are there? What tax benefits will I receive for getting married this past September?
Since you're married on December 31, you will either need to file married filing joint or married filing separate. Her mother shouldn't be claiming her as a dependent for 2006. Your income and her income will be ';pooled'; and taxed as joint income if you are filing jointly. Working part-time, her income probably isn't that much, so jointly you should see your taxes go down. If you file separately, you will definitely see your taxes go up as it will be less beneficial to file separately. What tax benefits will I receive for getting married this past September?
The fact that you were only married for part of the year doesn't change anything - as long as you're married as of December 31, your filing status for the year is married filing joint or married filing separately - joint is almost always better.

Her mother won't be claiming her any more.
get to file married and 2 instead of single and one, less tax. How best to file is dependent on your situation, income etc.
check out which one would be more beneficial for you - file married joint, or married seperate. Since you just got married you can choose

How do I get a married woman to sleep with me and engage in an affair?

She is twice my age but I love older women. All the older women I come across are already married. I've been working on this woman for months now. How do I take it to the next level? How do I get a married woman to sleep with me and engage in an affair?
lol. again an example of people taking this toooo seriously. this was a joke question. answer with a joke answer uptight people. my answer......... she wont be able to resist the anaconda of love. Good luckHow do I get a married woman to sleep with me and engage in an affair?
Hey be prepare for a beating. The woman married you might think you can get away with it but you cant. What her husband done to you nothing see whe the lady husband find out about it he gonna batter you big time. ??? just because the geaser is older than you he will go for you big time. His wife is his pride and joy dont be a home wrecker you will lose ???
First make sure her husband doesn't have a gun. It would be a shame to ruin your gorgeous young body with bullet holes! ;-) Offer to take her out for drinks. Alcohol lowers inhibitions...so if she wanted to sleep with you before, then she might be more prime to sleep with you now. Though alcohol does lower inhibitions, it doesn't make you do things you don't want to do. Therefore, you will know if she really always wanted you or if you were just reading the signs incorrectly.
Go to a bar or a club, and you can meet lots of DIVORCED and AVAILABLE cougars there. From what I hear, younger men such as yourself are having to beat them off with a stick.

    Good luck to you.
tell her to ask her husband if its ok. other wise there are plenty of older women out there dude. dont be that guy. u might end up dead and with us laughing at your dumb ****.
Just come out and ask her if she is as childish and pathetic as you are. Who knows, you may be made for each other.
    Rohypnol
you might wanna get to know her first.. if she's in a happy home you aint got no chance..

most times only women from a broken home can be broken
    Riming
slip a roofy in her drink and have your way with her...wear a condom and don't leave any evidence behind...that would be the next step for you...
';All the older women I come across are already married';...

then maybe you need to change where you are looking.
    Well! What you do is...

Stop trying to break up relationships and find a single woman!
The wise man need not ask,

    The fool asks in vain.
don't be a homewrecker.... go to a bar where cougars convene and you'll find just what you're looking for.
Hummmm...keep at it, she will cave :-) Just don't disappoint her when the time comes!
Are you serious? Why would you want to cause so much pain to her husband and children? You are no man. Get some honor!
    What is wrong with you?
show her your tally whacker... they love that!

How much does it cost to get married by the justice of the peace?

How much does it cost to get married by the justice of the peace at a courthouse or city hall in Southeast Texas? Also, how many people can you invite to view the ceremony and what is typical for the bride and groom to wear? How much does it cost to get married by the justice of the peace?
I don't know about the prices.

The number of seats depends of the courthouse. In my area they have around 100 seats.

As for the attire, it's really what you want. I was wearing clothes from a casual store, a long white skirt and white hooded jacket with faux-fur trim (it was in October), but most brides I saw in the courthouse were wearing full wedding gowns with veils and all.How much does it cost to get married by the justice of the peace?
Did a quick google search on getting married in TX by a JP and came up with this:

If you are interested in getting married by a Justice of the Peace, please contact the JP office in the area in which you live for information on how they handle marriages.

My suggestion would to be do your own quick google search and maybe make a phone call or two. Costs, the dress and guest limit will vary per court house. Good luck.
I don't know about Texas, but I know Kentucky. 35 dollars for the marriage certificate and another 38 and some change to be married by the judge. So, around 75 dollars in Kentucky. Some states also require a blood test for marriage certificates. Check with that.

  • How do you married couples split the bills?

I'm getting married in august (YAY!!!) and my fiance and I have been living together for quite sometime. We have never had any issues splitting the bills because we make exactly the same amount of money...

He just got promoted and will be making WAY more than I will and I'm curious how you other married couples do it? I hate feeling as if I'm not pulling my weight but I don't want to be struggling and he be living comfortably.

Any ideas? How do you married couples split the bills?
When my husband and i were married we had a joint checking account and a budget. Both our pay checks were deposited into our joint checking. Each month I paid all our bills using the money in the joint checking so it counldnt be like oh well i paid this and this.. so you need to pay this and this.. or well i paid half of this bill you need to pay the other half. You are getting married.. everything becomes one. In my opinion ONE person needs to be responsible for paying all the bills that way you cant be like oh well i thought you paid the car insurance.. and then your husband is like oh no i didnt pay it i thought you did.. WAY to much room for error.. If that is not ok then i suggest it be some thing you do together.. like every time you get a bill sit down and pay it together so you KNOW its done so there is no bickering over who paid what and when.

SO since i had a budget i knew exactly what we had to pay and how much money SHOULD be left over each month.. Part of that went directly in to the savings and the other part was what we were allowed for ';spending money'; It did not matter that he made more than me.. all that matter was that the bills were paid.. money went in the savings and there was money left over for anything extra that we wanted...

If you manager the finances well you should not feel like you are not ';pulling your weight'; yes my husband made quite a bit more than me.. however i KNOW that if i let him manage the finances we would not have any money in savings because he has the mind set that if the money is there he will spend it. So we were able to live comfortably debt free because i managed it well.. to me that is more important than who makes more .. because your husband can make all the money in the world but if its not managed well you will still struggle..How do you married couples split the bills?
First of all, Congratulations. Don't split the bills or the income. Marriage

is about two individuals coming together to make ONE couple. You will both retain your unique individual qualities. You should be striving to answer the question: Who are we. There will be some compromise, and it will sometimes be painful. It is worth the work. DO NOT believe

that just because you have been cohabitating that it is the same. Get some good book about marriage and read together. Good luck.
The way you can stop 'competing' with him is to make all my money your money into our money. Finances is the number one reason for divorce. Don't let yourself get caught into that drama. Remember if in your marriage divorce is never an option you won't use it. Many blessings to your marriage. Also make sure before you say 'I do' that you two discuss this financial matter very clearly and come to an agreement. It's not an after we get married discussion but a before!
When two people get married, the entire point is to become one, to share in the joys and sorrows of one another s worlds. You get a place ';together';, you share checking accounts, you have debts together and hopefully one day children. Money is the number one cause of divorce in this country and something that needs to be talked about before the wedding vows.

When you two tie the know, you need to have a joint checking account where ALL of the money goes in to. During bill time, you two sit down together and make all of the payments coming due. Get your groceries, whatever other things you have agreed upon and then you see what's left. That money belongs to the both of you. How you choose to split it or spend it will be up to the two of you. If he makes more than you, then great! that means the two of you will live more comfortably than you are now. I make way more than my husband, but his check goes with mine into a joint account. I pay the bills and we agree on what gets spent after that. Good luck~
When we got married it was like you and your fiance. We both made the same salary and shared the bills equally..right down the middle. We had a Household Account that we both funded equally. Then I had to quit my high pressure job due to health reasons and I went to work making 1/2 of what I had been making. I still funded the Household Account but percentage wise it was 50% less. Now that your husband has gotten the raise I think it would be great for him to pay a little more than 50/50 like the way it was before the raise. Have a heart to heart talk with him and get his feelings on this. Believe me, you better get this settled BEFORE the wedding. Finances is not something you want to argue about later on,.
At the moment, I pay them all while he's home with our infant daughter. Once he goes back to work, things will resume normalcy. We'll split things 50/50. I make more money but all of our medical benefits, life insurance, Thrift Savings, etc. comes out of my pay so we end up having about the same amount of money after all of the deductions.

If your fiance is making a significant amount more than you, household expenses may be best divided by taking a percentage of your pay rather than a dollar amount, to cover those expenses. That way, you're pulling equal weight.
Well things should remain the same. His raise should be some extra cash for him or anything he decides to do for you. Dont change anything with the finances, him getting a raise is very exciting to him, let him enjoy it.

If he offers to pay more then let him, but dont bring it up, he may become resentful.

It always best to have one joint account for bills, then personal accounts for personal money i.e anniversary/B-day gifts, clothes, nails, hair, junk food...whatever...

But yea, trust me...just leave his raise money alone.
We have always shared the expenses equally. Whatever the income, whoever is bringing home more ( it has changed over the years ) all the money goes into the checking account. The bills are payed first and then necessities: food, toiletries, shoes or clothes for kids... What is left is for savings and a little spending $. Usually we will both get, and ';allowance'; I guess you could call it. That is our $ to spend however we want. Otherwise we check how much we have left and talk about what we want... ie dinner out, something for the kids, day trip...

It should not be his living comfortably and your struggling...
personally, because you two are married (not just in a relationship) i honestly feel that the money is basically for both of you equally, so both of you got a raise in essence. if he wants to keep all the money to himself or something, i find it selfish. he should get to enjoy his new found cash, but i think you two should talk about him coughing up a little more your mutual bills
One way is to split bills based on %age of income.

e.g. If you make $40k and he makes $60k then you pay 40% of the bills and he pays 60%.

Another way, is he pays for the essentials and you pay for the extras.

Straight up 50/50 is what is fair.

Your quality of life is not going down because your husband got a raise.

The most troubling thing about your post is that you do not seem to be sharing your quality of life with each other. Sad really.
Communication....is the best platform for a great marriage..My bf makes way more then me but as for our relationship i feel that i can pay for half the mortgage and food and still live comfortably while he pays for the other half of the mortgage and the car, utilities, and our date nights....and its all because we spoke about what we can afford and what will leave us hanging....Congrats on getting married and remember just talk with him he will understand..
Get a joint checking account, as well as each of you having your own personal accounts. Allot yourselves a personal allowance each pay period to be directly deposited into your personal accounts, and have the balance deposited in the joint checking account for bills to be paid. This is also a good time for YOU to increase your 401(k) withholding.
We just add up the household expenses including car payments and split them. We are each responsible for our own credit card bills. We get paid on opposite weeks so when we go grocery shopping whoever just got paid buys and the next week the other person buys. It seems to work well, we have no issues with money in our relationship. Good Luck.
My wife and I split the mortgage. I pay the utilities and she pays the health insurance. We have our own checking accounts and we have a joint savings account. This has worked for us for 7 years now but I was 51 when we married. When I was younger I wouldn't have thought of trying this. At that point I believe a joint account is a must.
Joint accounts all the way. Separate accounts is nothing more than divorce planning, and the courts will ignore it anyway. My wife is joint on all my accounts and I'm joint on all of hers. This includes loans. We live in marital bliss.
    We don't.

My husband pays all of our bills through our joint checking and savings accounts. We pool our income together into the bank accounts.
I thought when you get married you share everything?

Me and my husband got a checking account together.
the best way to do it is dump the income of both if both work into the bills.....

That split stuff results in a blame game...

    trust me
My hub covers the mortgage (he also makes double what I do) and I cover the utilities/cable.
We do not split the bills. Everything is ours, our money, our bills.
We don't have separate anything. We share it all good and bad.
dont change anything, stay the same
keep doing what you are doing !!!!!!!nothing changes!!!!!!!
You should work together. Everything that was/is mine is also my wife's. Well not everything little thing but you know what I mean. Being financially successful in marriage is like having a business. You need to have more money coming in then going out after expenses. I would take a look at all the money coming in as a whole. That's all your money and all his money. Who cares what who makes. You both work hard together weather you both work or if someone stays home with the kids. I would minus all your expenses (house/bills) from the total amount of money. Then decide how much to save and how much you need to live comfortable. Of coasre you need your own spending money so decide that together. My wife and I have the same amount of spending money. If I need more money the she gives it to me. If she needs more then I give it to her. To my wife and I the ultimate goal is to be successfull together. That means the bills are paid, are credit is good, saving money and also having a comfortable life style. This will make it much easier to budget your life. Now that he's making more money most likely this will be your max income for a while. So now you can take a look and see what needs to be inproved. If you need more spending money then you may have to cut expenses or put less in savings. It IS that simple if you let it be. If you are both working for each other then why should he have more money then you. If you work together then you both get the things you need and the things you want. No matter how much money people make, we can always inprove our lifestyle. The best way to do that is work together.
