How long does it take to get married in Virginia and the steps taken?

My fiance and I are planning to get married soon. Now, we don't want a wedding or anything, just the thought of knowing we're lawfully married...He's also in the military (I don't know if that changes anything) and wondering if there's anyway we can get everything taken care of in one day?

You both have to be there to get the license. They will also have business cards of local justice of the peace to marry you. Ask them for the business cards, They will issue your license and you can marry the same day. I would go to the court house early and get the business cards or call them so you can call The Justice of Peace to make sure they can perform the wedding the day you are getting your license. Yes u can get it all done in one day. Go to Morgantown West Virginia and they do it all th same day. Certificate and everything.
