How long does it take for the army to give the okay to go overseas with my fianc茅 ?

My fianc is in the army and stationed in japan, we are getting married in 7 days to be exact this Monday actually! (very excited) anyhow after were married how I understand it is he has to enroll me in Deers and make an (emps) appt. Get my I.d. And passport! What I am asking is after this is over how long will it take for the army to approve me to come over their and live with him? I was told the (Deers) and everything else was like a one day procedure! Correct me if in wrong! Thank you for your support and answers! How long does it take for the army to give the okay to go overseas with my fianc茅 ?
Yes DEERS enrollment takes 1 day AFTER he has all of the paperwork (your Info, Marriage license) then once you are enrolled in deers he has to go to finance to start his BAH after which you don’t need approval to move to japan you are entitled to be there as he is your husband and japan is not a restricted tour although I would wait for housing to become available unless your going to live off post. (DEERS and finance can be completed in 1 day)How long does it take for the army to give the okay to go overseas with my fianc茅 ?
they may not approve it at ALL. Lots of factors.. To include you passing an over seas screening, his paygrade and how long her has been there and how long he has left. At minimum he will have to ecxtebnd his tour to at least 3 years total before they will even consider it, and if he has less than a year left on his current orders it will not be approved.

Army storongis INCORRECT: without CS you can only be in Japoan as a tourist.. 90 days max with 90 days outside the country before you can return. If you show up without CS and no return ticket you will NOT be let into the country at ALL.
Yeah, by the books it's ';supposed'; to take a day but I've been married since last September, I wasn't finally in DEERS until well after Christmas and my Tricare didn't go through until this month.

It's the military, expect the unexpected.
DEERS is your information being entered into the system. It can take a few hours, you will need your marriage certificate, your birth certificate and SSN card. If you do not have a SSN card you will be assigned a Temporary ID # to be used instead. You will then be enrolled into Tricare Standard where you go to a civilian doctor that is approved by Tricare, have a yearly deductible and co-pay for each visit. Your ID can be issued the same day depending on the location.

It can take up to 6 months for command sponsorship to go through. He needs to be there for at least 1 more year if not 2 for that to happen. The EFMP screening must be done by a military doctor or the forms filled out by an approved Tricare Doctor for that area. Then submitted through the right channels. If you are American you will not be issued a passport for free right away, you have to get it yourself a tourist passport first then when command sponsorship is issued you can apply for a Government No Fee Passport. If you are not American then you do have to get your country's passport and find out if a Visa to go to Japan is necessary then file for it.
